Soft and semi-soft stone carving classes

Students may change their stone to soap stone or alabaster at a small extra charge

Students will learn to formulate a concept, make a model out of clay or plasticene, and then carve their design in stone .

Lauren Kitts is a professional, full time sculptor with 25 years experience and a BFA in Sculpture from UCSC, USA. She has attended over 30 stone symposiums, exhibits regularly, and has work in collections around the globe. She has taught oamaru stone carving to groups, and one on one, for 8 years. She encourages students who want to continue their practice of sculpture to try one on one classes for added content and experience.
