We are very excited to have Anna Korver as our regular Stone Sculpting Tutor.

Anna has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture and began carving from a very young age. She has sculpted around the world, carving public pieces up to 4 metres in height. You can see some of her work on Anna's website www.annakorver.co.nz

Soapstone Carving Workshop – Beginners

Tutor: Anna Korver
Dates: 17/18 July 2010 (Weekend)
Times: 10am - 4pm
Enrolment: Minimum of 6 Maximum of 10

Fee: Early Bird Special $225 (Includes 1 x 4lb block of Soapstone (colour of your choice) and use of basic tools; additional and bigger blocks and tools available for sale). Payment required in full prior to 2 May or $275 2 May or after. All fees must be paid prior to the start of the course.

Course Outline: This course is perfect for anyone who would like to try their hand at stone Sculpture/Carving. Starting with the basic techniques, students will learn a wide range of general hand carving skills and those specific to soapstone carving. Soapstone is a beautiful stone to carve with amazing colour variations.

Equipment the class member must bring along:
1. Eye protection (Safety goggles)
2. Dust mask
3. Clothes that can get dirty
4. Pair of gardening gloves

Stone Carving Casual Sessions - Beginners to intermediate level

Dates: Wednesday nights
Times: 7 - 9pm
Fee: $ 40 per session (2 hours)
or $200 for 6 sessions or $300 for 10 session

This is a great way to be introduced to Stone Carving without enrolling on our longer courses. Come along for the evening and talk to Anna about what you would like to do and take it from there or alternatively if you have experience in Stone carving it's a great night to get together with other carvers and have tuition as required. We suggest you come with some idea of what you wish to sculpt or - Anna will guide you on purchasing suitable stone for your project and skill level. Current options are Oamaru, Soapstone or Alabaster. Depending on the scale of your project - you may join the longer courses or additional one on one tuition is also available at an additional cost.
