Perfect for anyone who has wanted to try stone carving or who has had a go and wants to try a more challenging stone. Sculpture workshop offer some unique stones such as soap stone and alabaster, not often found in New Zealand as well our native Oamaru stone which is ideal for a beginner. Starting with basic techniques using hand tools students will learn a wide range of skills and techniques and work towards finishing a 3-D sculpture in their chosen stone. Students are encouraged to bring along their own ideas and for a design to work on. Students will also discuss and learn about other aspects involved in 3-D stone sculpture such as plinths, installation techniques and materails as well as surface finishing and textures.
